Dependence Modeling for Large-scale Project Cost and Time Risk Assessment: Additive Risk Factor Approaches

نویسندگان

چکیده

High-dimensional dependence modeling remains a crucial challenge in quantitative project cost and time risk analysis. Building complete mathematically consistent correlation matrix becomes unrealistically restrictive as the number of uncertain performance units (i.e., activity times costs) increases, regardless using empirical data or with subjective judgment. This article presents pair additive factor models that provide analytic solutions to generation matrix. The (ARF) account for multiple factors two classes extra-marginal intramarginal) while providing additional flexibility strategic tradeoff between accuracy scalability high-dimensional risks. We extend ARF present an solution program evaluation review technique (PERT) problem correlated times. Numerical examples demonstrate computational efficiency approaches. approaches ARF-PERT would serve quick sensible alternative large-scale Monte Carlo simulation, particular during early stage life-cycle.

Project Risk Assessment Framework

This study presents a framework for calculating the risk of various projects, especially projects under uncertain circumstances. First, the related literature is reviewed and then the relationship between risk and projects is examined. Using a case study an approach is provided to determine the project risk in uncertain circumstances where sufficient data is not available for decision-making. I...

Risk modeling in distributed, large-scale systems

Risk is inherent in distributed, large-scale systems. This paper explores the challenges of risk modeling in such systems, and suggests a risk modeling approach that is responsive to the requirements of complex, distributed, large-scale systems. An example of the use of the approach in the marine transportation system is given. The paper concludes with a discussion of limitations of the approac...

combination of monte carlo simulation and system dynamics modeling for project time risk analysis

monte carlo simulation is a standard technique for project risk analysis. however, some assumptions of this technique are not reasonable in real world. when a project falls behind the schedule, managers take actions to improve the performance. nevertheless, most of the simulation models as monte carlo omit these reactions in their analysis, which results in unreasonable wide distributions or ev...

A Fuzzy Decision-Making Methodology for Risk Response Planning in Large-Scale Projects

Risk response planning is one of the main phases in the project risk management and has major impacts on the success of a large-scale project. Since projects are unique, and risks are dynamic through the life of the projects, it is necessary to formulate responses of the important risks. The conventional approaches tend to be less effective in dealing with the impreciseness of risk response p...
